SAP EDI Functional Consultant

Location: 100% Remote
Working Hours: 7:00 PM – 12:30 AM IST
Experience Required: 8–10 Years

We are looking for an experienced SAP EDI Functional Consultant with strong expertise in EDI integrations, IDoc processing, and trading partner connectivity across SAP landscapes.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing and supporting EDI solutions integrated with SAP ECC or S/4HANA, collaborating with business stakeholders, functional teams, and middleware teams to ensure seamless data exchange with external partners.

This role involves EDI interface design, partner onboarding, transaction monitoring, and troubleshooting in high-volume EDI environments.

Key Responsibilities

EDI Solution Design

• Analyze business requirements and translate them into EDI functional specifications

• Design and support EDI interfaces for SAP business processes

• Define message structures, mappings, and partner integration requirements

SAP EDI Integration

• Configure and support SAP IDoc-based EDI integrations

• Manage inbound and outbound EDI transactions

• Integrate SAP systems with external partners including:

  • Customers

  • Vendors

  • Logistics providers

  • Third-party service providers

Business Process Integration

• Support EDI transactions across core SAP modules:

  • SAP SD (Order-to-Cash)

  • SAP MM (Procure-to-Pay)

• Handle EDI transactions related to:

  • Customer orders

  • Shipping notifications

  • Invoices

  • Purchase orders

Testing & Implementation

• Prepare functional specifications and test cases

• Support Unit Testing, SIT, and UAT

• Validate inbound and outbound EDI transactions during testing and deployment

Troubleshooting & Support

• Monitor EDI transactions and resolve processing errors

• Perform root cause analysis for IDoc failures

• Collaborate with middleware and technical teams to resolve integration issues

Documentation & Governance

• Maintain interface documentation and functional specifications

• Ensure EDI processes comply with enterprise integration and governance standards

Required Skills & Qualifications

SAP Experience

• 8–10 years of SAP experience

• Strong expertise in SAP EDI functional processes

EDI Technical Knowledge
Hands-on experience with:

• SAP IDoc configuration

• Message types and partner profiles

• ALE/EDI architecture

• Inbound and outbound IDoc processing

EDI Standards
Experience working with:

• ANSI X12

• EDIFACT

Middleware Platforms
Experience integrating SAP with EDI middleware such as:

• Seeburger

• IBM Sterling

• Gentran

• OpenText

• SAP PI/PO or SAP CPI

SAP Functional Knowledge
Good understanding of:

• SAP SD

• SAP MM

• Procurement and Order Management processes

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management

• Ability to work independently in a remote offshore delivery model
